No Profit Without Nonprofits

I was going through some old blog posts from my time in PGH and came across one with a short clip put together by CForward.

CForward is a nonpartisan, advocacy organization that "champions the economic role of the nonprofit sector and supports candidates who include the sector in their plans to strengthen the economy."

Another similar organization is the V3 Campaign (voice, vote, value) who are "voice of the social enterprise and non-profit movement heard, its value realized, and its votes counted in EVERY election while remaining within IRS code for 501c3 political action as written.   [They] are creating an educational movement of nonprofit activists who take on the cause of nonprofit organization advocacy for their own, and who will ensure that elected officials understand and stand up for nonprofit organizations."

Robert Egger (one of my NGO idols who started DC Central Kitchen and the V3 Campaign) started to realize that more was being asked of the sector and they were being asked to do so with the same ore even less money than before.  Realizing the power of grassroots movements, V3 has started to teach NGO leaders how to advocate the sector and this movement, as well as help secure future funding.  Over the last few years V3 has begun to ask the candidates about what they will do for non-profits if/when they are elected into office.

Something definitely to think about as as Election Day is only a month out!  For those of you living away from your home state have you gotten your absentee ballot yet?
