8 Benefits of Pumpkin

Today the Huffington Post had an article on the health benefits of pumpkins which I thought I would share here as pumpkins are all over the farmers market.  Sadly I do not think those pumpkin lattes and pumpkin beer count.  Here are the highlights:
  1. Pumpkins keep eyesight sharp
  2. Pumpkin seeds contain a chemical, phytosterols, which helps to reduce LDL or bad cholesterol
  3. Pumpkins are filled with beta-carotene which may help prevent cancer
  4. A cooked pumpkin has more potassium than a banana so it may help with recovery after a hard workout
